Bootleggers stage the comeback of the season!

Setting the bar early in the season, The Bootleggers spotted Balls Deep an early 14-3 lead before storming back to win their season oppener this past Monday in Lakewood.

Opening their new era of softball, The Bootleggers, formerly known as Scared Hitless, capitalized on the revised identity by accomplishing a feat they would normally not have done: Stage a remarkable comeback from over 11 down to win the game in convincing fashion.

"We certainly enjoyed the refreshing attitude in the clubhouse," Frank Jacobson said in a post game interview. "We were hitting on all cylinders. Of course, my 3 run blast was sweet."

The Bootleggers chipped away after giving up 14 runs in a dismal third inning. A few runs in each the next few inning preceded a 7 run 2 out rally to put the game out of reach for the far overmatched Balls Deep. (a name, by the way, the bootleggers considered for their new identity.)

After the game, an example of how difficult it can be for a bunch of guys to make a decision on jerseys insued. They are red.

Frank Remembered as Bootleggers fall 13-11

It only took one inning for Ocho Cinco to make the team forget about Frank.  As Frank sat out serving his one game suspension for “actions detrimental to the team,”  .  Ocho deposited the first pitch he saw over the scoreboard in left field for his own solo shot and sparked a 2 solo shot and 3 homers for outs night by team Bootleggers in their loss Thursday night.

“I wasn’t lying when I said I would be swinging for the fences,” Ocho said after the game while filming his reality dating show at Paradise Cove, “I told them what I was going to do.  Not like I’m lying.  You can’t blame me that they can’t get on base.  Rohr bros going 0-8 tonight?  The only night I’m putting hos before bros.”

Bootleggers had their chances, but never could amount much of an attack from the plate.  The 3 outs by way of homer haunted any chances to establish any rhythm around the bases, and, in the end, piecing together 11 runs fell short to the 13 put up by the opposition.

Ocho did go 4-4 with a HR and T, and Gabe L went 3-4 with a HR as well.  But that one big rally never popped and the Bootleggers fell to 1-2 on the year.
